I like NW for its crunchiness. Yes, despite my tirade against Jorm, the game isn't that bad. I LOVE crunchy systems. I'm actually working on a Nexus Champion Archer average damage skill progression flowchart right now. So far, I have determined that1. Early on, Pristine bows are not worth dropping 50 CP for Advanced Bowyer
2. Improve Critical is not to be underestimated
3. Weapon Mastery is a more AP-efficient way to get your hit% up than Advanced Bowyer
4. Strength before Archery, but not before Ranged Combat
5. But getting Bowyer before any Myrmidon skills will make levelling through T2 a lot easier.
You've got a pretty good grasp of the game, then, in terms of character development.
One of the things that I'm seeing in the game that hurts Shacknews is that unlike in UD where you can just stand back up, there's more to lose upon death, it takes longer to get back in the game, it's hard to get your SH back quickly, the fact that having a set stronghold tends to keep everyone in one place, thus making it easier to cripple the faction by clearing them out, etc... and that pretty much takes away a lot of the things that makes them powerful in UD. Also, since Shacknews is relatively new to NW, they don't have as many tier 3's as other factions and all that.
However, in time, they will have more powerful, tier 3 members and if they really learn to adapt to NW and really learn to effectively raid and defend themselves, they could really get powerful. It'd be nice to see a mega-powerful evil faction whose name doesn't involve Pirates, Oblivion, or shiney things. I think in time, they, like many other small factions at the moment, will be able to grow and become even more powerful than many of the current major factions.
