I'm definitely not getting what is this fabled point. Frankly, this notion of 'official history of UD' is scary, and I can only think of certain distopias that entertain the notion of an official history line. Please check 1984 and Brazil for starters.Have you actually read the article? In which way is it not a accurate depiction of the events? If it is an accurate depiction of the events, then why does not qualify for historical status? The only thing it is missing is the official (!) RRF stamp of approval.
Secondly, for almost one year, this was the ONLY account of the BoB. If any interested parties thought that it needs improvements and/or an alternate versions, why haven't they voiced their contributions earlier? Incidentaly, the RRF page does not contain any mention of the Blackmore Battle at all. It was good enough for everybody for so long, RRF chose to downplay/ignore it, but suddenly it is not good because it does not praise RRF? Frankly, I don't get what changed.
Thirdly, have you actually read Jorm's motion? Quick reminder: "should either be rewritten and corrected, de-historicized and moved to a subpage of a user group, or deleted entirely". Do you see the bits about 'rewrittern and corrected, [...] or deleted entirely'? He may backpedal now, in face of PR disaster, but his intentions are very clear from the start. He just wants to rip the soul of the writing and/or delete it into oblivion.
PS. I am genuinely curious to hear your opinions, as hopefuly you are not yet caught in the RRF image cult.
Edit: spelling.
Interesting starting out with a 1984 quote since all this thread has amounted to is 30 minutes of hate.
When I saw that Blackmore I was historical I honestly believed Jorm had a legit point and fought for it (also, while we did respond to survivor votes, there's no denying that many of the initial survivor votes were every bit as condescending as anything we said). If standing up for something -- even something as trivial as the wiki -- makes you guys lose respect for us, fine. But not once have I seen an attempt to look at things from our perspective. Instead everything has been a non-stop RRF and Jorm hatefest. Even after you guys have won the vote and deemed the matter settled, you've gone on for pages talking about how shitty we were to even raise the point. We may have taken things too far and in our own frustration at our inability to make a point started pushing buttons, but the fact that you guys can't see that you did the exact same thing reflects every bit as poorly upon you as it does on us.
So let's just move on and play the game.
