Ohh, Neil Stephenson! Awesome book, read it 4 times or something now, but I'm not quite sure I'm getting the comparison. Sure, there where not really any rules in that society, but that kinda depended on where you were and where you had access. Anyway, please do tell. you're right, Stephanson's "Snow Crash" is actually an anarcho-capitalist state (sort of), but I brought it up as an example because it's probably the closest thing to a "pure democracy" that America could evolve into. Whenever I talk about that book, I always get hungry for pizza...
