I agree with parts of Trehkan's post. But there are somethings I have to disagree with. I used to Hercules because the Roman version of Heracles just plain sucked. And because Heracles is the actual Greek name for him. I used the Roman version to show that Disney is a bunch of fools, and that the Romans sucked. 
Hmm... I see your point. The Romans were a bit sucky. Comes from taking much of their religion and culture from the Etruscans, I suppose.
