No, the way it's set up is this:
Each player is allowed to register one account. Each account allows you to create three characters. These three characters are all "invisible" to each other, which prevents them from doing things like swapping items and such.
You can, of course, try to create multiple accounts to get around this, but if Jorm catches you, he hits you w/ Thor's Hammer. Or so I assume from what I've heard.
Nothing on NW as far as I know, but on Shartak everything (the names, the directions, etc.) was backwards.
