you DON'T see gigahordes of survivor players that exist for ANY extant period of time (PTT is the only one I can think of that even comes close).
And gigahordes of zombies tend to wink out of existance from the get-go, or amass huge followings of fellow zombies and conquer the world.
As for how the dead compair to Shacknews and LUE...not even close...LUE was underestimated at the start though, so that's something to think about...The thing that best reflects their groups unsuitability for this game is this lovely screenie I took of their numbers at 2:15 central time today:
