I still couldn't believe the LT as we flew over the rapidly-building quarentine line around Malton. It just made no sense. Things you saw in video games and movies just did not happen in real life.
Zombies just don't happen.
I shook my head to clear that thought as I tried to listen to the en-route briefing. Zombies had happened, and had happened hard. Most of the city had been surrounded, and the last gap in the line was rapidly being closed. Our company was being roped into the perimeter around St Jude's Hospital in the Ridleybank. Choppers were inbound to try to evac as many people as possible, the LT said. The Malton Police Department and Fire Department were doing everything they could, but the numbers facing them were simply too much. We heard the reports of firemen abandoning their hoses and uses their axes to keep their trucks pumping another minute, to keep a warehouse from fully catching. We heard the reports of people being eaten in the streets. We heard the reports of looting, wanton violence, and a new surge in murderers. We heard the reports of paramedics being mauled by the very people they were trying to help. We'd heard it all.
Still didn't get us ready for it.
More tomorrow.
