There's a loud bang as someone lands on top of the freight elevator. Noah slides between the gap in the elevator and the floor, pulling his pack down after him.
"You're not going to get anywhere with that thing, the pullies are shot and rusted. We can replace them easily enough if we scrounge some from the buildings around here. I think the warehouse down there has five elevators in it. We can probably trash one for parts, and replace the rope too. This hemp rope might break under the pressure, where the warehouses whould have steel wire cables, if they follow building codes."
Noah digs into his pack and pulls out a stack of books bound together and a box with the words "Good Reader Rewards" across the top.
"Here's some books on nuclear power plants and basic mechanics, they should be pretty useful. Oh, and there's some Hershey Chocolate Bars in the box. I figure we're good enough readers to deserve them."
Noah pulls out a half drunken water bottle from his pack and begins sipping on it in one of the booths. He pulls a book with the title "Freakonomics" written on it and begins reading.
"Call me if you need a hand."
