Yes, you are in a pretty dangerous part of Malton. I would suggest getting yourself down to Old Arkham (see the suburb map for location):

In Old Arkham you can hook up with the Malton Ranger Training Academy, which will help you level up and keep you breathing. You don't say if you want to join the Rangers or not, but if you do, that would be the way to go. Send me a private message through the forum if you want to join the Rangers.
