Yup, I agree, nice lead in, who wouldn't dream of past pleasantries whilst living in an apocalyptic nightmare. But without breaks it's too much effort to read - at least it is for lazy eyes like mine.
Also, if you keep it going, and you should, stick it in a more appropriate place like 'In Character'. Keep an eye on how many view it gets and that will tell you whether you're liked or loathed.
