Alex tries to articulate a response to Kawamura's question, but the drugs are already taking hold. He starts to mutter about Japanese men eating sticky-cake and hiding in bottles. Then, he experiences a moment of lucidity.
"The man, the radio, Johnstone Towers, I think he's dead... We've got to get out of here. The man, the Don, he's dangerous. He blew up the cinema the first time... You don't come back, not here. The bar, they can't kill us there... Not permanently."
He spoke frantically, his voice growing louder as he continued to speak. It was clearly a great effort, and he went limp once he finished speaking.
