absolutely! welcome, we've been expecting you. in fact, we're on pins and needles, mostly pins, of course, the scattering kind You see, we're far from the scrum half of news teams in malton, in fact, you've just entered the deep end of the pool. Your coming heralds either an end to unity, or a return to nothingness...choose wisely.
I'd make more confounding references to your crass call number, but then I'm afraid I'll abdicate what regal reputation I have. My name's Padre Romero, be advised, the Channel 4 News team keeps an In-house priest who makes puns, can you top that?

I don't get any of those puns. Anyone care to explain 'em?

I don't like doing it, but I'll do it for MIA... "Pins" ties into "Ninepins," a popular bowling event, also one of the more common gauges of needle, but no one really knows that one, the scrum half of a rugby team usually sports the number nine, and "nineball" is the most common format of billiards, related, of course, to pool.
the number nine is, in many tenants of numerology, the sign of depth, meaning, and mystery, as well as the signifier of change and division (after nine, every number has 2 or more symbols, not just one) similarly, it's also the sign of transition to destruction, as they symbols in a base 10 system go from 8, to nine, back to zero again.

Those are either very deep and meaningful plays on words, or horrible puns.
Since I didn't get any of them, I'll go for meaningful.

I at least got the one about pool, though not until you explained it... Probably because I'm Swedish, so I don't really think about any other meaning the words might have... Though it does explain why I find your way of writing a bit strange, lovely, but strange.

it's way harder to understand puns than to make them, making them just requires a defective sense of humor and an old-mannish outlook on life

I <3 Padre's puns. Whenever I actually do see them. Most of the time when he writes them, I just miss the post entirely...

Yep, and when you do, it's overwhelmed by spam.
