It had all started as a regular run with the boys. Get in, take the cargo, and get out. But when it turned out to be a cargo ship used by the Triads, things turned ugly...
Most of the crew died, and i barley escaped the two burning ships before they both sunk into the deep. That turned out to be the easy part. After a week with barley any water and nothing to eat except for seaweed, i started seeing things. Some were good, others had me curling up in the middle of the lifeboat crying like a baby. That, along with my skin breaking because of dehydration, made me see other things. Monsters in the dark teared at my skin and i ran and i ran.
I realized some time later that i had hit land sometime ago, and was running through the streets of what looked like a war zone. I approached a police officer that looked a bit shell shocked or something, he limped and seemed to not notice me at first. But when i got closer, his head tilted up, and i saw the bloody mess that had been his face, and the one eye that seemed to burn with rage... I ran once more. Until i heard someone swearing about pies and bad scotch in a nearby bar.
I decided that it would be worth the risk and ran as fast as i could at the closed door, and kicked it in. I feel forward, just before what was left of the door turned into splinters from the shotgun blast hitting it.
A man was sitting at the bar, staring at me with disbelief at first, I stared back, and then got to my feet. He muttered a bit about bad manners and waste of ammo before he got up, and flipped a jukebox over so it lay before the open door.
"What are you waiting for? Start building a barricade before those ugly dead people get here!" he said.
And i did, while building the barricades he told me what had been going on here, about the zombies, the quarantine, and that there were still a lot of people fighting the undead. He also said that he was a member of a group called the Malton Rangers. So i decided to join them, it would be better than wandering around alone, and together we might stand a chance...
First we had to find them, but that wasn't to hard according to my newfound friend. He told me that his name was Ian, and that the rest was non of my business.
To find the Rangers we had to find somewhere with lots of alcohol, ammo and other fun stuff.
But we didn't even take two steps outside the door before the zombies attacked us. We got separated during the battle. And i once again found myself on my own. I didn't know where to look for the Rangers, but i knew i had to find them somehow.
But that is another story....
