As the Roftwood squad depart from the compound, the stranger who had warned Corporal Holland steps out of the shadows cast by a building and blends in with a small crowd that had gathered to see the soldiers off. He works his way to the front of the crowd and gets the Corporal's attention, giving him a look of disapproval. He mouths the words 'There's still time'' to the corporal before blending back into the crowd and vanishing.

Axe still sits in the office building. He has a phone in his hands. It appears he's making a couple of calls.
"Hey. This is Axe. Get the gang together. Code 13. You know what to do."

Daniel sees the man again and hears another final, cryptic warning before the momentum of the squad forces him through the door. His squad's scout moves up to a pair of zombies near the entrance and bashes their skulls in with a couple of well-placed axe blows. As the squad moves across the empty lots surrounding the complex he thinks more about Roftwood, the man he saw running, the warnings given to him by an unknown individual.
"Hey Holland! Eyes open out here remember?"
He looks over to his squadmate. A fellow Corporal, Feehan was tailing him in her usual manner as she had done in every combat patrol since they had both met in the Compound.
"I thought you were on KP duty for that stunt you pulled back in Dulston. The LT wasn't dead when you stuck him with that syringe as I recall..."
"Shush. The LT said I could have in on this patrol if I took an extra week when we get back. You're no good out here without me watching you."
"Yeah, what if I forgot how to take a piss?"
"My point exactly."
The two and the squad kept moving towards their desitination, hopping from rooftop to rooftop as much as possible.

The strange man sighs at his warnings gone unheeded. He slips away from the crowd and goes to a recently disturbed patch of earth. He scrapes away the top layers of dirt and reveals a metal tin. Contained within the box are a handgun, a notepad, a stub of pencil, and a gray coat. He tucks the gun into his waistband, dons the coat and pockets the notepad and pencil. He then turns to the wall, looking for the fastest way up. He scales the wall and begins a distant pursuit of the military squad, losing their trail frequently, but always picking it up again after a few minutes of searching. He moves deliberately. The military men will rest at night, he will not. He can catch up after nightfall.

"Got a live building here LT. Looks like it's a safehouse. Walls look thick, barricade's definately solid. I can see movement in there."
Duo and his fire team all spread out to covering positions and tried to remain hidden and silent. The LT sent another fireteam up to check the building's interior, to see if it was a trapped group of zombies or another group of survivors. The SMDF (Saint Michaels Defense Force) had taken to calling zombies confined in a barricaded structure Lurkers, since the running assumption was that if the doors were blocked, people were alive inside. After losing a full three squads to them it became assumed that all buildings without power were dead or Lurked.
Patrolman Remetz radioed back that he can definately see and hear survivor activity inside, and requesting permission to contact the inhabitants.
Duo readied himself and saw Feehan do the same. If this was a Rogue or Death Cultist or Trenchcoater outpost, this could turn ugly very very fast.

The strange man watches from a rooftop as the soldiers prepare to enter the building. He isn't certain what is inside the building, but if what he had heard from Axe's phone calls was true there was a definite chance that it will be bad for the soldiers, and consequentially, Corporal Holland.
TSM wishes he still had his cell signal bug with him, but if it was still in one piece it could be detected and traced. He thumbs the pocket of his coat in which the bug's components were stored away, his mind working furiously on finding a distraction for the soldiers. After a few moments of intense thought, he pulls out his notepad. He scribbles something on the first page, then tears out the sheet, scribbling on the next. He repeats this process a few times, crumpling some of the sheets, and leaving others. He then removes the silencer of his handgun, scoops up all of the papers on the ground and flings the paper over the edge of the roof. Half a dozen sheets of paper start to float towards the soldiers on the ground. Once they reach roughly halfway to the ground, the strange man points his gun towards the ground, taking care to keep his shot away from the soldiers, and fires several rounds.
The men on the ground respond by taking cover and looking skyward for their assailant. They do not see the shooter, instead they see a couple of pieces of paper fluttering in the wind. Others hear the crumpled sheets bounce off of the pavement nearby. One man is brave enough to venture out of cover and picks up one of the crumpled sheets.
He radios is:
"Sir, I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean, but this piece of paper says 'run' on it."
"Yeah, I just grabbed one of the floating ones. Sir, it says 'run' too..."
"It's likely some whackjob survivalist asshole who wants us to stay the hell away from his little hell on earth where he gets to do whatever he wants. Don't let him scare you boys, we're trained military men, and we won't be intimidated."
"Sir, this is Dunlop. This here piece says 'run' too. I doubt it's just some survivor playing tricks on us. Why risk us returning fire when he could just hide? I mean, we'd never find him if he just stayed quiet."
"Shut the hell up Dunlop, if I wanna hear from the damn peanut gallery I'll fucking ask, and it won't be you. When you live in some rundown building with no power and spend all day blowing the rotting brains out of old friends and family you start to think less than straight, so hell if I know why he fired those shots. Proceed with the interior sweep men, and keep an eye skyward in case that asshole points his gun at us again."

In the midst of everything, Axe Hack has seemed to have vanished from the building. But then, a radio on one of the soldier blares in.
"HELP!!!! PKer assault on Yagoton! Send help now!"
Another radio blares in.
"This is the MPD. Calling all units. We have reports of a PKing massecre going on in Dulston. Requesting immediate medical aid and assistance."
A third radio blares in.
"Hello? Someone send help. Broadcasting from Fort Creedy. Was defending Creedy from massive zombie horde, but a large group of PKers got in and killed 86% of the survivors. Send help now. Please?"
A few more radios blares in with reports coming from Caiger Mall, Roftwood, Shearbank, and Nichols Mall. Each one of them reporting a large scale PKer attack. The last radio message to be broadcast seems to be Axe Hack's voice.
"People of Malton! It is I, Axe Hack. I know some of you have a tap in my phone. And I know you might have heard a Code 13 in one of my latest calls. Yea, that's right. How are you liking "Major Disaster Activation"? Not so pretty is it? And these massive PKings around the city are only a small thing. Unless you meet our demands, the PKing rates in this city will skyrocket. POWER TO THE PKER!!! Axe Hack, out."

Duo, as the squad's radio carrier, reaches for his radio and dials in the SMDF's security frequency and starts calling in. "Archangel archangel this is Ranger 3 calling. Archangel archangel this is Ranger 3 calling. We're getting calls for aid from the full run of frequencies from multiple survivor holdouts. Are you still online? Colonal are you recieving this?"
As he was finishing up his broadcast he saw a man lean out from an upper window of the building his squad was about to enter, gun drawn and aiming at the man to his right.
"Gun in the window! Down down down down!"

Axe Hack's cellphone buzzes and alerts him that he has just received a text. It reads:
'Major Disaster Activation? Axe, please... You aren't important. 99% of the survivors in this city aren't important, and the 1% that have any value are protected by me and other people like me. You're just a murderer. A pleasure killer. A brilliant one, but ultimately insignificant. If this is an attempt at provoking me, I hope you can do better."

Duo takes cover from the volley of rounds that were plugged towards him and yells for Feehan to alternate fire with him, presenting a constantly shifting target for the shooters. He started popping from cover to return fire at the window, hoping the more powerful rounds of his rifle would be able to penetrate the decaying structure and take out at least that shooter.
At the same time, he saw from cover the remainder of his squad get engaged in a full-scale firefight with at least an equal number of shooters at the entrance.
"Archangel archangel do you read me? We're taking heavy fire, requesting reinforcement at Oak and Hilmat streets! Archangel are you there?"

Axe sends a text back.
"Provoking you? Who said anything about provoking you? We PKers do this for the thrill. Maybe you oughtta turn to PKing. You might actually enjoy some destruction."
A few minutes later, another text from Axe reads, "PS: I forgot to mention the zombies at the left."
Axe tosses his phone in the air, draws a gun, and fires multiple rounds at the flying phone. Axe then takes out a new phone. Back at the gunfire outside the building between the troops and the strange man, a horde of zombies enter the scene from the left. The zombies apparently outnumber the troops 3 to 1.

At the appearance of the zombies TSM springs into action. The crossfire between the military and the people in the building meant a direct route to street level would be dangerous, so he heads indoors. He uses an elevator cable to slide to ground level. As he heads out on to the streets he sizes up the situation; Holland and the military had dispatched most of the zombies, a few troopers were still engaged in hand-to-hand with them. The soldiers had also managed to eliminate most of the hostiles inside the building. The gunfire still coming from the windows was sporadic and inaccurate. The strange man sprints across the street, getting under the line of sight of the shooters in the building. He heads in the direction of Corporal Holland and the other soldiers. He passes several soldiers on the ground, some moving, others motionless. He takes a sidearm from one of the dead ones. Then, he ducks into a shallow alcove in the brick and starts to scale the side of the building. After two floors he ducks into a window and hides, waiting for the remaining soldiers to move.

"Break contact! Get inside and find those shooters! I want them alive if ya can!"
The Sergeant's order came out very loud and very clear; No sense taking on zombies with riflebutts if you could use the comfort and safety of a building's window. He immediately broke off from his zombie and sprinted up to the doorway and saw Feehan slam into the wall accross from him. "Ready? "GO!"
Holland jumped through the door's barricade, causing some of it to shift. He did not come to a rolling stop as he had planned, but landed squarely on his chest. Despite being unable to breathe for the moment, he quickly swept the lobby area with his rifle. He heard Feehan call back "Clear" and saw motion as most of his squad crawled or got dragged into the building.
"Rebuild that barricade. I don't want this half-dead mob getting at us that easily. Daniel, Feehan, sweep this building. Get those shooters live if you can, but not at the cost of one of our lives. Dunnings, you and I are gonna start workin' this radio, see if we can't figure out what the fuck just happened out here. Move it people."
As Cpls Holland and Feehan moved up the stairwell to begin their sweep of the building, they hear Dunnings start calling out to the St. Michael's Compound. "Archangel, archangel, this is Ranger 3 calling. Do you read me? Archangel archangel..."
He and Feehan moved quickly through the first floor, killing one shooter they found there. They noted the building was moderately well stocked with ammo, food, and medical supplies, better than a random group of renegades should be. They moved up to the second floor, having heard several distinct footsteps....

Axe watches from afar with a pair of binocs.
"Why must it always come to this situation?"
Axe presses a button on a detonator like thing, but instead of the building blowing up, really, really loud music booms from the building. The music is apparently Paris Hilton.
"If I've learned anything, zombies love Paris Hilton."
In a few minutes, coming from north, south, east, and west, tens of millions of zombies stampede their way towards the building that you could literaly feel the ground shake.
"Now...To sit back, relax, and enjoy."
Axe pops open a beach chair, sits back, and opens a bag of popcorn.

"Axe...... Axe wake up... Axe. Jesus, those tranquilizers were stronger than I thought. Sit back, relax, and enjoy what? You were talking in your sleep, were you dreaming about something? Look, Axe, I'll cut a deal here. You make 100% certain that you and your PKers don't kill corporal Holland with you stupid Activated disasters or whatever the hell you called it. 100% certain. If you can do that for me, you'll continue to wake up tied to a chair, rather than overdosing on tranquilizers and choking on your own vomit."
