On the web, one's spelling, grammar, punctuation, and writing style are judged much as penmanship was in pre-computer times. Oh really? I had no idea. Even if they don't successfully imitate your "voice," I'll admit that some of the parodies they made were pretty funny to watch. Ish. Which ones? |

One of the greatest misconceptions people have about the Internet is that no one cares whether you write well. No one will *tell* you they care (unless they're using it as part of an argument in a petty flame war), but when was the last time you bothered reading a badly spelled 20-line long paragraph with no capitalization or punctuation? Writing exists to communicate ideas, and if you don't put any effort into getting your ideas across, you should be no more surprised that people don't understand you than if you wrote with pen on paper, smudged it, and then poured coffee on it. To the second, the moments that stuck out were when someone found a way to cram about 10 feths into a couple sentences and when someone threw the world "filth" into the post. These are kind of your signature words around here, you know. I suspect I'm known for making posts that are too long for the subject matter... |
