I got into MtG just before the Invasion cycle. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the MtG Online Encyclopedia, which let me play online with every card. Then Wizards stopped supporting it and I kinda fell out of it.
I got into MtG in college since my best friend played it. We played open decks that he designed. We had five decks, one of each color, that was very balanced against each other. We would play all frickin' night with those. My friend was the best player, but I was his best pupil. We would play multi-player games and if I would die I would be one of the later ones to do so.
When we were all still learning, there was this one game when I was playing a Black deck. I had a good amount of mana and one of my fellow students to the game was close to killing me. It was my turn and I knew I had to come up with a way to get him out of the game. All I had was a bunch of weenies that he could easily block.
One of these was a Knight of Stromgald, a BB 2/1 that could be get First Strike for B or get +1/+0 for BB until end of turn.
That's when my mind fully understood the stack rules.
I attacked him with it. He didn't block. Before damage was assigned, I tapped all my lands for mana and laid down two Dark Rituals on top of it. I got him all the way down to 1 life.
He was very stunned and even angrier. He told everyone else at the table to let him live until he could finish me off. They didn't.
It was that move that showed my teacher that I was one of his star pupils.
While it is my first complete set, I love the Invasion cycle. I love the multi-colored synergy it had. It was just pure fun. Online, I made 10 decks, one for every two color combos. It was pure entertainment.
When the next set came out, it wasn't as fun and Wizards didn't support the Online Encyclopedia anymore, so I stopped playing, especially since I couldn't afford to play it. I am quite thankful for being introduced to the game, though, because it taught me a lot about strategies, tactics and logistics, lessons learned that I'm putting to use in games like Urban Dead and Nexus War.

I've known Jaya was in the set for a long time, Padre. Though I didn't expect her to be quite so much of a firecracker... whew...
Actually, I expected you'd be going crazy over Mishra. My Blues Brothers deck is looking forward to Teferi, that's for sure... If he's not Cab Calloway in Magic, I don't know who is!

I was certianly thinking about a Mishra-based deck...but I don't want to steal the idea Mira already masterminded...Really though that Minx Jaya is another tempting permanent to throw into my all-spell deck...
