Three favorite English/British monarchs and prime ministers! GO!
For me:
Monarchs: 3. William of Orange and Mary. This might count as double-dipping, but they're really inseparable. Stuck it to Louis XIV, always a plus, and the only monarchs to be on the right side of a major Enlightenment-era revolution. 2. Ælfred the Great. Major badass. Fought the Vikings to a standstill, for God's sake. Also an eminent scholar; it ain't called the Ælfredian Renaissance for nothing. (Actually, is it called the Ælfredian Renaissance?) 1. Elizabeth I. Duh.
PMs: 3. Margaret Thatcher. I'm known to some as a connoisseur of fine '80s conservatism. And Margaret Thatcher's '80s conservatism is fine '80s conservatism indeed. 2. Benjamin Disraeli. Has a really awesome name. Yeah, that's right, Gladstone. Don't see your name anywhere on this list. *Ahem* Also a bad novelist. 1. Winston Churchill. Come on! He is John Bull! And he could rally the Confederation of Three Elderly Women and a Child against the hordes of Attila the Hun!
Honorable mentions go to Wellington and John I (Hey, sometimes you have to have a weasel king to get certain important legislation through).

@padre: Wait, what? ian: Well, being part Scot, I'm none too fond of Longshanks. Now, sometimes Scots need some sense beaten into them, as during the Jacobite uprisings, but Edward I's career was not one of those times.

Ironically, the original idea that became this thread was a discussion of how long it would take for Neville Chamberlain to surrender to Wilt Chamberlain, but that would too quickly dissolve into a discussion of exactly how long a "Planck time" is, so I held off.
