Okay, so, I've been fighting in Blackmore for a week, amybe two now. And my group, The Shearbank reisstance, has the little Bastard thing on thier wiki page. So, the question is: do I have permission to have you honour me by putting the badge on my page? Or is there some other totally ludicrous trial I have to pass yet?

The general sentiment around here is that the BBB doesn't exist anymore or, at the least, that those who claim the BBB name now are a different group than those who called themselves Bastards during the First and Second Sieges of Blackmore.
I was there for both official sieges, and I've never given up my badge or changed my group affiliation. For me, the Blackmore is home. I go there whenever there isn't some great, interesting plot afoot that needs people willing to die for the cause - like the action in Yagoton a few weeks ago.
The Blackmore is kind of a training camp where survivors learn how dependent we are on each other for survival and discover just how effective well-organized survivors can be in a siege. The lesson we learned in the First Siege was that a sufficiently organized group of survivors CAN hold off a mob of zombies more or less indefinitely. That siege only ended because an even MORE organized (and huge) army of zombies showed up.
Holding the Blackmore requires discipline. Quite often, you log in and see 5 zeds inside with the doors open, and if you panic and run or go against your training and shoot before barricading, survivors WILL die. The only way you can preserve the Blackmore from the undead is to barricade, even though you know it moves you higher on the "recently active" list the zeds generally use to pick their targets. If you die, but the Blackmore survives, someone will revive you. If you run or forget your training, the Blackmore might fall, and if that happens, all the zombies who are busy battering on it are now free to wander around the suburb. More zeds wandering the streets means it's more likely they'll find and eat you, and there will be no needle-wielding Bastards left in the Blackmore to revive your under-disciplined rear end.
I'm often defending the Blackmore, and I see that kind of discipline all the time. To a certain extent, the Blackmore simply doesn't attract the kind of people who run away as soon as there's a break-in. If you're in the Blackmore, you're there because you're looking for danger and therefore do not fear death. Let's face it - we're pretty much here just to piss off the RRF and other zombie groups, and when they take the time to be pissed off, they bring armies against us.
Defending the Blackmore from countless break-ins and near break-ins is a ludicrous enough trial for ANY group, so if you want to call yourself a Bastard, that's fine by me. You won't be the only person out there with the BBB as your official group affiliation. As far as whether you can use the BBB badge on your wiki page, I didn't design it, so I don't feel like I have any say in how it should be used.

Well then, I shall take that as a yes, and thank you accordingly.
gregory: Aye, organisation was one of the first things drilled into me when I re-started playing. When I used to play a couple years ago, it wasn't quite so critical as the groups tended to be much smaller, but in this day and age it seems organisation is all the rage. Ah, back in the days, when the Zombies were the dumb ones... *reminisce*

to be honest, i did alot of dicking around at blackmore. usually step outside and give the zombies a 20 ap speech about how they need to quit this art school crap, get a job, haircut, and life together. I'm sure that was a good contribution to the fall.

I'm sure that was a good contribution to the fall. It would be boring if we weren't doing crap like that. Discipline is simply a matter of keeping your priorities straight - dump, barricade, kill, heal, revive, restock, snark, decorate. Or maybe it's just a matter of leaving "run away like a little girl whenever there's a zombie next to you" off of the to-do list... I know whenever there's a functioning radio transmitter in the building, it's used to antagonize any zombie listeners out there, and many zeds who get inside are taunted before being evicted. Mocking your opponent is good for the defenders' morale, and it's not like the zombies are eloquent enough to voice a coherent rebuttal. Well, unless you consider being singled out as a chew toy the next time some zeds slip through the 'cades a rebuttal...

no the radio annoys us more I think. especially when it was on C4NT and ranger feqs. thank god that stopped. and I know your not saying NMC's run away from zombies. umm if you knew anything about UD history you wouldn't say stupid shit like that. you guys really need to leave blackmore and get a life. see the rest of malton. maybe pick a fight that helps someone.
the second you guys go up against non feral zombies you guys get you clocked cleaned. i've been there on both sides.
enough with the trench coat bullshit. you are boring.

I most certainly did NOT mean to imply that the NMC runs from ANY fight. I've been at your side on more than one expedition (not just in Ridleybank, either), and I have nothing but respect for you as a meta-group. My contempt was aimed at fair weather mall defenders, who are notorious for running away screaming whenever they see a zombie on the wrong side of the barricades. If we weren't defending the Blackmore against the RRF and the Militant Order of Barhah (to the tune of 120+ zeds), right now, I might take a vacation somewhere else in Malton. As it is, I'm a bit tied up. Maybe when the RRF gives up and renames themselves the Scarletwood Resistance Force or something (ha!), Ridleybank will be a boring suburb. I personally would like it if I had a place to hang out with these new BBBs, and NMC would be a great place for it. You might even convince some of them to participate in other NMC events when the Blackmore gets boring (or nuked). But if you want to encourage these new Bastards to come to the board that started the BBB, you might want to refrain from calling them Trenchcoaters and telling us to get a life. I hang out in the Blackmore for 3 reasons. First, it tends to see a lot of action, so it is seldom boring for long. Second, because the asshat quotient is fairly low, as PKers usually aren't suicidal enough to come to Ridleybank for their entertainment needs. Third, because I have real world responsibilities that interfere with my ability to participate in carefully timed strikes. I'm at *work* at server reset. So, if you want to go out and tour Malton, go for it. The coordinated campaigns of the NMC are the stuff of legends, and I don't mean to insult anyone by being on this board and calling myself a Bastard. I'll jump into some of your projects when I have the time (as I have in the past), but when I'm planning my wedding, working lots of overtime, or otherwise too busy to think much about UD, expect to see me defending the Blackmore.

I think Harrison misunderstood your previous post, so don't take it personally. He gets cranky once in awhile.
Personally I support what you guys are doing at Blackmore at the moment, you've managed to draw the Militant Order of Barhah, an RRF strike team and a few other zombie groups to the location. That means they can't terrorize the rest of Malton while you're keeping them busy.
So battle on ye brave new generation of Bastards, battle on. Make us old timers proud.

The Militant Order of Barhah is a completely seperate horde from the RRF. Since Monday when the MOB showed up and Tuesday when an RRF strike team showed up the population of Blackmore has fallen from 114 harmanz to about 70 - 80. The harmanz will be done by the end of the week. Also, the bulk of the RRF is still in Santlerville. We're the second biggest group in the game. We can multi-task.

Hah, nowdays. Who am I kidding? That's pretty well always been the extent of my abilities.

murry I dont know if it will be by the end of the week but it may be soon unless these guys remember to hold the pds and hospitals near by and not let them get ransacked everyday (hint hint).
Sorry to gregory, harrison sometimes gets in a bad mood.
Good luck to you guys in trying to hold against the MOB and RRF they are pretty good test to how well you are working.

No problem. Blackmore is really exciting, tonight. I was dead on the floor with about 30 zeds inside. ZKed and Mrhed my ass off - not really expecting a revive, but just making sure the Bastards knew I was one of the ones they DIDN'T have to headshot - and someone was kind enough to stick me. By the time I APed out, 'cades were up to VSB and there were 26 zeds standing inside. Quite the rush. Hope the Blackmore holds out tonight, but if it doesn't, the battle has been a worthy payoff.
