Notice and disclaimer: This thread is completely, utterly, and TOTALLY seperated, by design, from any and all other threads. As far as the happenings of other threads (like, say, The Elbow Room)are concerned, they occured on the OTHER side of the city. No meshing!
Long before the outbreak, Necrotech officials and the Malton City Council agreed to terms for the construction of a medical research and treatment complex. Necrotech would control the Mallard Tower, the city would operate the St. Luke Hospital, and as an added bonus, a combined police and fire station was built and paid for by to replace other aging buildings. The company even saw fit to build a large chapel annex connecting to these buildings. The area became known as the St. Michael's Compound, after the chapel. It was a hub of medical research and treatment for several years, until the outbreak changed everything.
With the sudden outbreak, the compound found itself in a very fortunate state. With the combined force of an entire police department, Necrotech's own security forces, and the hospital's security department, this complex was one of the few left in human control when the dust settled. With generators in each building, able to keep them at full power, and enormous stockpiles of fuel kept at the police station, this complex is one of the few constantly-lit structures left in Malton.
The hospital still serves its intended purpose, treating and healing the wounded before they venture off again to parts unknown. The Tower serves as the command post for teams of revivers on the streets. The police station serves as a barracks for more permament residents and as a staging area for military and civilian forces in the area. The church has not seen prayer for many weeks, as it is now mostly used as a mess hall and a secondary barracks.
The latest run-in with the Ridlybank Resistance Front had left a great many wounded and weary soldiers seeking shelter and aid. One such soldier is Corporal Daniel Holland. While he was not directly involved in the clash against the RRF, he did wind up in a battle with a mixed group of survivors in a nearby library.

((Question. What if we put in cameo apperances from characters that had made appearances elsewhere, but not directly connected to those storylines? Say...My PKing character Axe Hack?))

((Answer: People move about. More people the better. Dragons, infernos, lasers, those sorts of things are on the other side of town.))

Daniel Remington and Alexander Laroche had spent some time in the St. Michael's compound, Dan had even made a name for himself as a fighter during the latest clash with the RRF. Some of the psyche doctors at the hospital had noticed that the both of them seemed very on edge, as if perhaps the were running from something. They had helped out significantly however, and nobody voiced any concern. Then, one day, the two of them were gone. They had left food, water, and several weapons and ammunition, but took very important first aid supplies when they left. After a few days of searching no trace of them turned up and they faded back into obscurity.

A crash is heard from a nearby warehouse. A man in a black hoody runs out hauling a steel case.

Cpl. Holland eyes the man in the hoody from his post on the roof of Mallard tower, wondering what on earth just happened in there. He decides to call it in to the command post a few floors down.
"Control, overwatch here. Survivor movement east of us, one man. Heard a crash in the warehouse there. Don't see many zombies in that direction, most dangerous is a pair wandering around another block back. Recommend recon team be dispatched to warehouse. Over."

The man with the steel case runs in the direction of Roftwood. Unknowingly, he drops a piece of paper behind that shows a one man plan to PK the entire northwestern corner of Roftwood.

Daniel watches over the recon squad as they track the running man to the outermost perimeter markers. Over his radio he hears them call in that they had collected a document that had some interesting information on it. A squad was being readied to react to the lost document.

The man in the hoody's radio blares.
"Recon to HQ, over. Found plans for mass PKing in Roftwood, over."
The man stops in his tracks and starts rumaging in his pockets.
"Ah, crap..."
The man takes out another paper, labeled "Decoy".
"I dropped the real plans instead of the decoy...This is gonna cost me..."

"Corporal Holland, report to the briefing room in 15 minutes. Private Uris will take over your post, he should be there soon. You're going with the Roftwood recon squad. A kit has already been assembled for you. Leave your gear there. Control out."
Ahhh crap. I was just getting comfy up here too. Wonder what was on that paper.
Private Uris climbed into the platform with his normal stupid grin. "Looks like you won't be in on tonights poker game Corp. Too bad, I was hopin' to get another pack of smokes from ya." Daniel shot back as he was climbing down "Last I recall, you still owe me a ration from that last game. Smokes my..."

An innocuous looking gentleman grabs Corporal Holland by the shoulder and looks him in the eyes.
"Don't fucking go to Roftwood. Shoot yourself in the foot to get out of it, sprain your ankle on purpose, something. Just avoid that fucking suburb if you want to live."
As abruptly as he appeared, the man vanishes into a passing group of survivors.

Daniel gives up looking for the man and thinks about the warning. Last broadcasts from Roftwood indicated the suburb was mostly safe, well-powered and stocked full of people and supplies. He knew he was going to Roftwood, orders were orders and following orders kept ya well supplied with food, water, medical help, and, once in a while, a much needed syringe.
He headed into the briefing room, resolved to be ready to run like Hell to the nearest outpost if things got horrible.
"Corporal, glad you made it on time for once. Grab a seat and lets get this started.
Allright, as some of you know, one of our patrols recently discovered plans for a massive hit against the people in Roftwood. We've already talked to the folks in the police and fire stations up there, and they said they're going to dispatch runner to the mall to warn those folks. The only people we can't get a hold of are the hospitals. Eligius General Hospital is right next to the mall, and between the mall and the Dempsey Grove Police Department, so we can assume the runner will use that building as a bounding point before entering the mall. The hospital we're moving towards is St. Ethelbert's Hospital. It has no radio and is cut off from runners from the police stations. They're telling us it's lit up and survivors can be seen through the windows, but they still refuse to send runners in that direction.
Our guess is the RRF are movin' in through that area again. As we expect you to encounter significant zombie numbers, your kits have rifles. Take care of these. We don't have enough for you idiots to lose them. Get to St. Ethelbert's, help them secure the facility, and get back here. Get going."
Daniel looked over his kit and let out a low whistle. An M14, a couple of clips, a full load of medical supplies, 2 weeks worth of food, and a revive syringe, in addition to the axe and pistol he normally carried. A lot of gear for a recon squad.
((OOC: I realize there are no rifles in the game, but then again neither is there a lot of stuff. ))

Axe Hack sits atop the top of a large building a few blocks away with a pair of binocs.
"Wish I knew what those military folks are planning...Probably a way to counter my PKing plans..."

"Allright boys, get some hot food from the mess and sack in for the night. We leave at midday tomorrow."
Daniel and the squad of officers and troopers he was assigned to ate a real luxery: Hot steak, REAL steak from the deep-freezers in the basement of Mallard Tower and baked potatoes. Hot food in and of itself was a real treat, which only served to increase his worry about the mission.
'It's like we're being sent on a suicide run' were his last thoughts before dozing off on one of the couches in the church.

Still in the same building, Axe Hack occasionally peeks out the window with his binocs to see what those military folks are up to.
"Well...Since I accidentally dropped the real plans instead of the decoy, I guess it's time to draw up Plan B."
Axe walks over to the fire extinguisher and takes it out of it's storage case. There's a large crack on it, large enough to hide something inside. From in it, Axe Hack takes out blueprints marked "PKing Plans".
"Good thing no one bothers to look in everyday objects these days...I scattered a bunch of these plans all over this city just in case I want some fun..."
